How the scanner recognizes a member
A member is identified by the phone number they verified when they joined. When the door scans their phone (the entry code from their text) or their ID, the scanner matches the person and shows a member badge with the tier name and the perks that apply tonight. There's no separate members list to search.
What each perk does at the scan
| Perk | What the door sees | What the door does |
|---|---|---|
| Free cover | Comped by membership on the cover screen, at $0 | Taps check in. No money changes hands. |
| Percentage off | The reduced price (a $20 cover with 50% off shows $10) | Takes the reduced amount as cash or Tap to Pay. |
| Guest allowance | +1 or +2 on the badge | Checks the guests in under the member. Checking in a group → |
| Priority entry | Priority on the badge | How you run the line is up to you. |
| Custom perk | The label you wrote, like one free well drink | Honors it. |
What happens when a membership is past due
The badge shows past due and perks don't apply. The member can still be admitted and pays cover like anyone else. Once they update their card, perks come back on the next scan. Manage members →
How member admits appear in the ledger
A member's admit is recorded like any other, with the perk that applied, so a night with 40 comped members shows 40 admits at $0 with membership as the reason rather than 40 missing covers. Revenue & receipts →
